After ten years as Manhattan Beach's hippest fusion restaurant, Michi still successfully fuses Asian and French elements under the guidance of namesake chef Michi Takahashi. Chianti-braised osso buco is pure comfort food, and the soy-glazed tofu steak with Japanese eggplant is a traditional option. Those who love Michi's daring mix of influences will delight in the miso black cod with grilled shiitake mushrooms and the crab croquettes with white peach-horseradish purée. There's also a fine sushi bar that’s competitively priced. The restaurant is as popular as ever, and the bar is still a happening place, even midweek. Thankfully, the volume on the sound system has dropped a notch, making Michi an even better setting for an enjoyable evening.
