| This comfy urban oasis from chef Daniel Stern is a study in reclaimed barn boards and rustic woods contrasted with sleek glass and stamped tin. MidAtlantic mines the Pennsylvania Dutch table for sweet-and-sour bites (don’t miss the house-made pickles) and updates Philly classics like scrapple fashioned from veggies, oysters and crab. And speaking of oysters, they're terrific fried with salsify fries. Or try one of the nightly comfort specials, dishes like chicken and dumplings or seafood stew, value priced. For dessert, try the fried apple long john, a dreamy apple donut that's perfect any time of day. The preserved peach buckle is farmhouse cuisine at its best. Retro cocktails, including a tasty Schuylkill Fish House Punch, keep company with local brews and a short, well priced wine list, each available both by the glass and bottle.
