THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mims Brasserie Restaurant Review:
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Mims is housed in a quirky yellow wedge of a building on downtown Portland’s waterfront. Owner Natasha Durham has managed to attract good talent to the kitchen, and the unusual and elegant space boasts a curving, much-windowed front wall and the best patio dining in Portland (both upstairs and out front). Dinner is mostly classic French, very nicely done---plenty of duck and liver among the appetizers, preceding complexly sauced entrées of meat and fish---with a few New American offerings to round out the menu. Brunch here was once the best in town; now it’s merely pretty good. Meanwhile, the staff can get a little caught up in their own stylishness---though that annoys us less than the necessity of ordering sides à la carte, which drives up prices steakhouse-style.
