| The Chinese approach to barbecue is singular and typically quite inexpensive. Such is the case with Ming’s, although the place also specializes in Peking duck, available in whole and half portions. The way the barbecue works is simple: choose one, two or three meats from a selection of soy chicken, duck and three different flavors of pork. Then opt to enjoy it over rice or different sorts of noodles. We like the udon, which includes a big bowl of flavorful broth with plumped buckwheat noodles and your meat choices carefully placed within its warming contents; two meats cost less than $7, and half of it might be taken home for the next day. Chefs’ specials range from chicken to seafood to beef and vegetarian dishes. For less than a five spot, you can pick up a tasty snack of wings, pot stickers or fried tofu and eggplant, and another buck will buy you a ribs snack or calamari. A separate menu reflects the influence of a Hong Kong-style tea restaurant, serving such specialties as hot grapefruit juice with honey and, surprisingly, Ovaltine. |
