Mon Plaisir Restaurant Review:

Even after 50-odd years, this charming, quintessential, always busy French restaurant in Covent Garden keeps on with its traditional snails in garlic, coquilles St-Jacques meunière, coq au vin, and tarte maison du jour. But owner Alain Lhermitte doesn't rest on his laurels and offers modern dishes like red mullet escabèche with a mesclun salad, tapenade and crostini; and poitrine de canard with red berry sauce. It all takes place in a series of small rooms, decorated with banquette seating and wooden floors, old posters on the walls and Piaf on the gramophone (Mon Plaisir brings out that kind of old-fashioned touch). But the downside is the service, which can be slow at best and rude at worst. Set lunch 2 courses £10.95, 3 courses £14.95. Set pre-theatre 5.45pm-7.15 pm and post-theatre, 2 courses £13.95, 3 courses £15.95 including a glass of wine and coffee.
