The Morrison Restaurant Review

: There’s more rock ‘n’ roll than bagpipes at this stylish Scottish-inspired gastropub, but locals like to gather amid the burgundy and tartan walls, stamped-tin ceilings, and a few romantic oil paintings of the Highlands. A long, sleek wooden bar turns out artisan cocktails that pair bourbon with house-smoked apple juice and bitters, or whiskey with fresh blood orange. But connoisseurs favor the lengthy single malt list (out of 70 whiskeys) and the 40 draft beers that range from Twisted Thistle Scotch ale to local lagers and dark stouts. The pub food that soaks it up is solid, particularly the soft scotch egg with venison sausage and horseradish mustard, and the juicy, flavorful haggis burger (made with lamb, oats and bacon jam --- sorry, no sheep’s stomach), which is among the best burgers in town. Other traditional fare with a modern twist includes shepherd’s pie and cod ‘n’ chips; gourmands will like the rich duck confit mac ‘n’ cheese. End things on a sweet note with Scottish cheesecake bathed in spiced cream and stout syrup, or brioche bread pudding with whiskey sauce.
