Moscow Nights is the area’s only Russian restaurant and one that also has a few Israeli dishes thrown into the mix. Portions are ample and the flavors homey. Several salads, like the beet, Jerusalem, Aliyve and crab come dressed with mayonnaise and the beet and Jerusalem salads benefit from a generous addition of chopped walnuts. The beef stroganoff served with saffron mashed potatoes will remind many of slow cooked pot roast. The borscht soup is chock-full of vegetables and the khartcho is brothy with rice and bits of lamb settled in the bottom of the bowl. For dessert, stick with the three layer chocolate cake, generously drizzled with a potent cherry syrup. On Friday and Saturday nights, a Russian band plays, creating a lively scene in this quiet suburban neighborhood.
