One of the first Japanese restaurants in the area (founded way back in 1959), Myako has a somewhat dated air; still, the quality of ingredients used here ensures a reliable meal. Although situated on the lower level of an old apartment building, some natural light reaches the dining room through a tiny glass-ensconced Japanese rock garden. The main dining room is decorated with traditional art, antique Japanese musical instruments and geometrical rice paper sconces. Motherly kimono-clad waitresses assist patrons at faux wood tables with built-in gas ranges. Myako may not be hip, but its combination dinners provide good food and good value. For example, the Imperial Dinner (chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura and beef sukiyaki), cooked at the table, is quite a feast for a mere $16.95, as it includes miso soup, vegetables, rice and tea. Sushi, shabu-shabu and entrée salads are also available.
