THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Nathan's Famous Restaurant Review:
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED In 1916, long before golden arches began to dominate the fast-food business, Nathan Handwerker was stuffing ground beef into sausage casings at his tiny snack bar on Coney Island, and selling them quicker than you could say wiener. His customers liked his Coneys so much that in a few years, Nathans hot dogs had become as much a New York institution as the Brooklyn Dodgers. These days, the Dodgers are in California and Nathans is a fast-food counter. At this and numerous other locations around the city, it shares space with the likes of Kentucky Fried Chicken. So much for history, but you can still get a hot dog and fries until midnight. For the real thing, go to the original in Coney Island, Brooklyn.
