It’s a rite of passage in a way for Baby Boomers and the graying Gen X crowd. Now entering its sixth decade, the hybrid restaurant and bar features an eclectic menu of steak, seafood and Mediterranean entrées, including gluten-free options. Bacon and date skewers served with a mornay sauce provide a sweet and savory start to the evening. Veal sweetbreads is a classic at The Nest, with its peppercorn sauce or, better yet, tossed with sautéed lemon and capers. All portions are ample. Those who want to graze for less can do so nightly starting at 4 p.m. with a $6-per-item bar menu. The three-course dinner, served from 4 p.m.-6 p.m., is available for as little as $17. But it's not the early birds but the party animals who tend to stay until last call. If you like star-gazing, keep your eyes peeled for celebrities who enjoy the dim lighting and a hot scene in the piano bar.
