New Albanian Brewing Company Public House Restaurant Review: New Albanian helped pioneer the Louisville Metro area microbrewery movement, and it’s still going strong. Thirty-four taps feature rotating selections made both in-house and of guest brews from around the world. Among the house beers are Hoptimus (a double IPA), Bonfire of the Valkyries (smoked black lager) and Quakerfoot (an oatmeal stout). Amicable staff likes to talk beer and is happy to offer tastings to help you make a selection. The menu is limited to pizzas, calzones and sandwiches (served on pizza bread), but all are made with fresh ingredients, including house-made sauces. Potato wedges baked in the pizza oven are addictive, as are the warm pretzels served with spicy beer cheese. Occasional dessert offerings include a very good carrot cake. Pub décor includes the popular “Red Room” featuring murals and posters of Lenin, Marx and Mao.
