THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED New Wave Cafe Restaurant Review:
The wave, as it is affectionately called by the regulars, gained fame as a waiting room for the fantastically popular Dimitris, across the way. Now, it has morphed into a restaurant with a mainly Southwestern theme, but the bar still is the focal point. U-shaped, and always busy, it has nightly games and activities for the patrons, as well as Yuengling beer (the oldest brewery in the U.S.). The small dining room has very minimal decor---black tables, silvery lamps and chairs, and old pictures on the walls. A number of quesadilla preparations, like one with prosciutto and mozzarella, or a bruschetta with broccoli rabe indicate Italian connections as well, and lift the menu from banality. Follow with a burger, a chili-crusted strip steak, or a grilled tuna tostado.
