Nobu Restaurant Review: Namesake Noboru Kidera is adept at picking out fine material for his sashimi and carving it with consummate skill. He is also good at navigating the trend toward less-authentic rolls while still attracting a bit of buzz. Sushi spans the spectrum, from common rolls to the exciting tastes of smooth sea urchin, sweet tuna, salty red caviar and the unmistakable flavor of salmon, dominant whether the fish is raw, cooked or smoked. Keep an eye out for the grilled fish, too, like a piece of Spanish mackerel or a delicate yellowtail jaw. The tempura is dry, crisp and nicely done. While the meal may easily lull you into a pleasant reverie --- don’t let the bill be a rude awakening. It’s worth it. |
