North End Grill is a Danny Meyer restaurant venture in Battery Park. The menu has offered such appetizers as smoked fish chowder and charcoal grilled octopus salad. Whole grilled fish may include daurade with ratatouille, but don’t look past other mains like free-range chicken for two and Colorado lamb chops. Lunchtime brings some casual additions, such as a chicken burger with pickled cucumbers. (Eric Korsh is the executive chef.) As with all Danny Meyer restaurants, no detail is overlooked. The sommelier is always at hand and the wine list is clever and well-rounded. Scotch occupies a special place on the menu. For dessert, consider the Pavlova with roasted plums or vanilla cheesecake.
