North End Grill Restaurant Review

: Floyd Cardoz, formerly of Tabla, clearly has a lot of freedom at North End Grill, and it's apparent in the menu. Standout appetizers include the grilled clam pizza with chili flakes. Whole grilled fish, a prevalent entrée, serves two, but don’t look past such solo mains as the Elysian Fields lamb loin with baby carrots, turnips and Indian apricot jus. Lunchtime brings some casual additions, like a chicken burger with pickled cucumbers and Asian slaw. As with all Danny Meyer restaurants, no detail is overlooked. The sommelier is always at hand and the wine list is clever and well-rounded. Scotch occupies a special place on the menu. Desserts may include such temptations as a butterscotch pot de crème with chocolate streusel and “single maltmallows,” a sky-high lemon meringue pie, or Key lime cheesecake complemented by macadamia brittle and coconut-Thai basil sorbet.
