NOVE Italiano Restaurant Review: With its LED Swarovski chandeliers and plasma screens displaying old-world paintings, NOVE Italiano on the 51st floor of Palms' Fantasy Tower presents a very modern setting that pays homage to the roots of its featured cuisine. Start with a plate of charcuterie produced by artisanal salumist Armandino Batali (and, yes, father of Mario). Pizzas may include the "diavolo" with sausage, peppers and oregano. The carbonara raviolo stuffed with runny yolk, pancetta and ricotta is pure comfort food, but make sure to share in order to leave room for the main event. Entrées range from pistachio-crusted halibut with heirloom carrots to house-made pastas and classic dishes like chicken Parmigiana. The Prime grilled steaks are sure to please carnivores, especially when prepared al forno-style with garlic, Parmesan and ravioli. Notable for its name alone, the side of "death by potatoes" is composed of olive oil smashed potatoes with truffle butter, topped with pancetta and mascarpone sour cream --- one could hardly imagine a more decadent demise. For dessert, the strawberry carpaccio --- berries cut into slivers and drizzled with aged balsamic, with sweetened panko crumbs and crème fraîche gelato --- makes for a light, refreshing finish to an Italian feast.
