 Ocean & Vine Restaurant Review: Ocean & Vine at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel has contemporary style and great views of the ocean and the Ferris wheel on the Santa Monica pier. Modern paintings and mobiles adorn the walls, while a centered fire pit filled with white glass brings life to the room. Eclectic dishes offer a wide range of appetizers: carpaccio of Prime beef with Parmesan crisps; cauliflower and cheese soup; seared scallops with caramelized pear; and a lighter version of chili with shrimp, crab and fava beans. Pizzas and flatbreads make for a satisfying middle course. Mains are cohesive, with seafood choices such as tiger shrimp and lobster risotto, cioppino lasagna, and the signature smoked and grilled red snapper from Santa Monica Bay. Meats include a 12-ounce pork chop, Sonoma duck breast with a currant glaze, and roast beef with butternut squash raviolis. Butternut squash also makes an appearance in crème brûlée, while more traditional desserts are baked s'mores and black raspberry cheesecake.
