Old Homestead Steakhouse Restaurant Review:

The first West Coast location of the New York City steakhouse, which has been in operation since 1868, blends the old with the new. Traditional elements unchanged include the use of USDA Prime beef that’s been dry-aged for a minimum of 30 days, as well as generously portioned servings, evidenced by the 24-ounce rib-eye. The 34-ounce porterhouse and 38-ounce lollipop rib-eye serve two, and a Japanese A5 Wagyu beef strip loin is offered in a five- or ten-ounce portion. The two-tiered shellfish platter is also served with dramatic flair, with a steaming dry-ice feature and options of oysters, king crab, colossal shrimp and Maine lobster. The kitchen brings creativity to play through the side dishes, including lobster mashed potatoes, potato gnocchi with truffle butter and truffle mac ‘n’ cheese. Finishing touches include New York-style cheesecake and a cast iron-baked chocolate chip cookie with house-made vanilla ice cream, chocolate curls and candied nuts. The wine menu lists more than 15,000 bottles, with a wide variety of Champagnes and red and white wines available by the glass.
