THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Osteria Balla Manfredi Restaurant Review:

Chef Stefano Manfredi is well-known to Sydney diners. In keeping with The Star Casino’s multi-million-dollar refurbishment, nothing has been spared on the several high-end dining establishments on its premises. The sinuous curve of Osteria Balla Manfredi is wrapped in glass, giving views across to the bay. The sleek appeal continues in the à la carte menu. Antipasti (oysters, salumi, formaggi and kingfish crudo) precede a streamlined array of just four or five choices per course. Which is just as well, because it is difficult enough to choose between entrées of pan-fried scallops with smoked eggplant purée, and pappardelle, veal ragù and Montasio cheese. Second courses include risotto with Yamba prawns and smoked ricotta, and pan-roasted duck breast with nectarine and amaranth leaves. Plenty from the grill, too. Dolci excel with white chocolate with Earl Grey tea and Italian pandoro, or coffee brûlée, fresh raspberries and hazelnut praline. Guests in a hurry or pre-theatre can dine quickly or eat at the bar, and there are express lunches. As you would expect, in keeping with Manfredi’s mantra, the wine list is all-Italian.
