Steak is the ticket item, mate, at this theme restaurant that’s part of a national chain inspired by Australia’s wild and wooly feel. Outback is known for its huge portions and fair dinkum prices. The Bloomin’ Onion is a colossal bulb designed for sharing. It’s cut like a flower, breaded, lightly fried and served with horseradish mayonnaise. Grilled on the barbie items include steaks, ribs, chicken, shrimp and at least two selections of fresh fish. Bring the whole family. Outback offers Joey (children’s) meals designed to appease the pickiest tykes. The Billabong, or watering hole, serves ice cold drafts and frozen tropicals. You’ll feel like you’ve taken a trip to the land Down Under for just a mere fraction of the price. Beware: the food can be loaded with salt.
