P.F. Chang's China Bistro Restaurant Review: There’s a reason P.F. Chang's dining room is always bustling: the chain restaurant’s food is consistently tasty and the portions more than generous. The updated take on Asian (mostly Chinese) cuisines is set against the striking backdrop of an East-meets-West contemporary bistro décor; the culture-melding menu follows suit, adding extensive gluten-free items. For starters, try the hot-and-sour soup, crisp batter-fried green beans, steamed dumplings, or the signature spicy chicken lettuce wraps (large enough for a main course). If you are still hungry, we suggest the orange peel chicken, salt and pepper prawns, or the classic mu shu pork. Seafood specials run along the lines of ginger-steamed Norwegian salmon and lightly battered nuggets of sweet monkfish in a citrus-plum sauce. Desserts include a banana spring roll served with coconut-pineapple ice cream, New York-style cheesecake, and a multi-layered chocolate cake. The small wine list of mostly California selections works nicely with Chang’s spicy dishes. Bartenders have fun with old-fashioned umbrella drinks like the crowd-pleasing mai tai.
