| Cornerstones of the Atlanta restaurant community, Raymond and Anna Hsu extensively renovated their Pacific Rim Bistro. The restaurant showcases a soothing, contemporary atmosphere, and is devoted to Asian cooking, from China to Thailand to India and Malaysia. The sushi bar has been lowered and seems now more integral to the main space. The kitchen strives to present authentic dishes of Asia, so there's little tinkering with original concepts. Fried dumplings---a half dozen---make an appealing presentation with three sauces: curry, soy-sesame and, perhaps our favorite, spicy peanut. Five-spice powder enhances a dish of beef strips sautéed and perched atop crisp sprouts. It‘s served with basmati rice, but you may ask for brown sushi rice, also available for the very good sushi. Desserts include a Fuji apple dipped in caramel and chocolate and scattered with pecans. The wine list is uninspired, unfortunately, but we hear it’s getting an upgrade. |
