| A popular special occasion spot for locals, Palisade is perched on a bluff above Elliott Bay Marina with views of Seattle’s skyline, ferry boats and the Olympic mountains. The restaurant’s exotic interior seems a bit dated these days, with footbridges traversing saltwater tide pools and dark koa wood. White lights twinkle in tall trees under a domed ceiling hung with enormous blown-glass sculptures. Unfortunately, the food may also remind you of Hawaii, which is not necessarily a positive. The pupu tower with its selection of appetizers is a good beginning, especially paired with a tropical cocktail. However, skip the Peking duck and the bland chowder. Order fish from the daily fresh sheet but select a simple preparation. For dessert, the crème brûlée trio is a satisfactory sweet ending. The opulent Sunday brunch buffet is the best way to enjoy Palisade, especially for the banana-macadamia nut-sourdough griddle cakes. |
