| Just off the north end of the Valencia corridor, this clean and quiet spot draws a devoted local following. It could be because the staff has cultivated a chatty rapport with the regulars, but most likely it's the salsa-charred tomatoes and a few secret ingredients blended to a smooth, deep red. Jars of it may be purchased to take home and spoon over roasted chicken and shrimp. The menu, hung above the counter, reads much like other taquerias in the area, from the fresh fish tacos to the juicy al pastor burritos, but the quality rises much higher here. Wise diners will take a pass at the chicken adobo burrito. A fine selection of beers, sodas and juices chill in the adjacent cooler. Paintings and photographs by local artists provide ample distraction while waiting for your order to arrive. |
