The location on the ground floor of a plain brick structure looks like it belongs in the more industrial sections of Brooklyn rather than Norwalk. But it affords an airy atmosphere for a clientele who enjoy the blending of Eastern and Western décor: wicker chairs and see-through hanging lampshades, bamboo and exposed brickwork. The menu’s mix of Thai, Chinese and Asian fusion fare includes the big bowl noodle soup, a Thai twist on Vietnamese pho. Try the combination dish of boneless chicken filet seasoned with dark Thai barbecue sauce and sesame seeds, and grilled boneless beef short ribs with roasted pumpkin served on a sizzling plate. Two thin-cut grilled pork chops with a sweet and spicy chili sauce with mashed sweet potatoes demonstrate Papaya Thai's expertise with the art of Asian grilling.
