Pappy McGregor’s Pub & Grill Restaurant Review

: At first glance, this may seem like just another Irish-themed watering hole, and the bar scene can get pretty lively. But the menu is better and more inventive than you’d expect. Yes, there is the requisite pub fare such as nachos, wings, burgers and potato skins, but you’ll also find from-scratch ahi egg rolls, potato leek soup with house-made sausage, filet mignon sliders, lobster mac ‘n’ cheese and surprisingly hearty salads. For dessert, we have a hard time passing up the brownie sundae. In addition to a respectable wine list and nice line-up of drafts --- Harp, Smithwick’s and local microbrews --- there’s a full bar as well. Also located at 1865 Monterey St., San Luis Obispo, 805-453-5458.
