| THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Located in the plush and urbane Montgomery Hotel, the classy restaurant (there are others in Berkeley, San Francisco, Portland and Hawaii) is a natural setting for both business lunches and after-work cocktails. It also does a good deal of traffic with the dinner crowd, especially when there is something happening in the nearby theater district. The food is sophisticated and artfully presented. The menu updates classic American brasserie fare with such winning dishes as pancetta-wrapped monkfish, maple-glazed pork loin, butternut squash ravioli, and pan-seared yellowfin tuna. Vegetarians should order the decadent spinach lasagna, which is served with roasted eggplant caviar and a fresh tomato-basil sauce. Paragon also pulls a buzzing bar crowd, which comes to enjoy the fancy drinks, the lengthy by-the-glass wine selection, and appetizers like marinated artichoke heart bruschetta. |
