Parallax Restaurant & Lounge Restaurant Review: Zack Bruell and Dave Schneider's Parallax is a hip urban restaurant serving sushi and Asian fusion fare. The bar faces a row of sturdy private booths, while the subtly lit dining room is elegant yet relaxed. An intimate enclosed sunroom out back adds extra seating year-round. Add to that a surprisingly extensive menu (presented on a metal clipboard) and we find ourselves enamored. Start with the sweet corn grit sticks with the nutty pecan-kale pesto. Then indulge in some of the city’s best sushi: white tuna sashimi, salmon roe and octopus are among the highlights. The rolls are equally noteworthy; try the unavo roll and the spicy salmon, too. If you’d rather stay on land, go for the rich roasted bacon chop served with cheddar grits, braised greens and maple-bourbon gastrique. For dessert, we recommend the ginger crème brûlée or the rice cake with poached raisins. Coupled with a nice, savvy wine selection and you have the makings of a great date destination.
