Lunch is served here but breakfast is the real draw for this Decatur delight. Dark-roast coffee is better than regular, and eggs Benedict on Sundays is a treat.

THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pastries a GoGo Restaurant Review

: This simple bakery-cum-restaurant opens early each day to dole out excellent, strong, rich coffee to patrons who come for the best croissants in town. Breakfast is the treat meal, with good grits (not instant, but quick grits, which can be fine), eggs prepared exactly as ordered, house-made sausage, pancakes, waffles, French toast and all the trimmings. For $6 you can get two eggs as you wish, a cup of grits, a croissant and a pair of perfectly quivering poached eggs. The regular coffee’s very good, but the dark roast is even better, fuller bodied and richer. There’s lunch, too, of the sandwich/salad variety, but breakfast is the real draw for this Decatur delight. Sometimes, you can be disappointed if nobody’s made croissants that day or house-made sausage, under the direction of owner Bob Light’s wife, Lek, but so far, those are our only beefs. For brunch, there’s Eggs Benedict (Sundays only), a Southwestern omelet, biscuits and gravy, and loaded potatoes, plus all the usual breakfast dishes. Note: Credit card use requires a minimum $10 purchase.
