Dark wood, oversize amber lights and concrete floors give the indoor dining room a warm, modern vibe, but we recommend skipping it in favor of the delightful outdoor patio. When things heat up in the Sacramento suburbs, there’s no better way to while away a summer evening than by sipping a glass of wine to the soothing trickle of this restaurant's outdoor water fountain. The menu is decidedly Californian, featuring organic produce, humanely raised meats and sustainable seafood. Dishes are uncomplicated, not burdened with heavy sauces or overwhelming spice. Starters include house-smoked salmon, grilled Castroville artichoke and a daily selection of fresh oysters. Entrées include brick chicken in herb jus, slow-cooked pork ribs with apple slaw, and mahi mahi with blistered tomatoes. For dessert, try whatever might be in season, such as the blueberry crème brûlée.
