Paulette's Restaurant Restaurant Review: Diners enjoy sweeping views of the Mississippi River from within this charming restaurant at the River Inn of Harbor Town, a boutique hotel on Mud Island. Executive chef Stan Gibson’s menu focuses on classic dishes from across Europe, such as Viennese pork schnitzel, fresh roasted vegetable and goat cheese crêpes, and Hungarian ham palacsinta. But there are also several Southern selections: low country crab cakes and fried green tomatoes. Popovers, served with every entrée, and desserts like bread pudding and crêpes (perhaps fresh strawberry) are justly well known. The wine list, too, recalls the old continental restaurants. For brunch, we recommend the smoked salmon Benedict with fried capers and hollandaise sauce. Paulette’s also governs service at the hotel’s rooftop bar, where appetizers are available along with beverages and that vista of the Big Muddy beyond.
