THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pegaso Mexicano y Taqueria Restaurant Review:
Its fitting that the rebirth of downtown Dallas would spawn a hip taqueria called Pegaso, after all, Pegasus has been the unofficial mascot of Dallas since the first red neon Pegasus flew over the headquarters of the Magnolia Oil Companys Dallas headquarters in the 1930s. Start your day with an oversized breakfast burrito stuffed with eggs and a variety of fillings or a substantial smoothie---dubbed Breakfast in a Glass. Mexican-style tacos made with soft corn tortillas and tortas, toasted Mexican sandwiches on large white rolls, are specialties of the house and far removed from your everyday Tex-Mex offerings. Try the flavorful torta de tinga filled with strips of spicy dark chicken and cheese. Or, on the lighter side, the ropa vieja salad with strips of spicy beef, lots of fresh lettuce, avocado, and hard-boiled eggs gracefully dressed with a lime vinaigrette. Be sure to leave room for a palette cleansing lime or watermelon paletas (popsicle) to enjoy on your way back to the car.
