THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Penang Restaurant Review:

The sister restaurant of DC's Penang restaurant (and definitely not the same as the outstanding Penang in Bethesda), this place brings a certain exotic air to suburban Reston, where locals sit and ponder over such unfamiliar names as roti canai and char kway teow. More geared for yuppies with its gleaming décor, overhead TV monitor, and location right next door to pricey Morton's steakhouse than for the Asia-phile, this Penang may bring some of Asia to the 'burbs, but you won't find much that rings true to Malaysian palates. We wondered about the composition of the gado gado salad with its clumpy sweet-hot peanut dressing, and frowned at the beef rendang that lacked the subtleties of this coconut milk-based beef stew with its inherent sweet-hot flavors. At least, the feathery bread-pancake of the roti canai was a welcome addition to the meal.
