A 24/7 schedule and a short-order menu loaded with diner classics make it a legitimate greasy spoon for a wide-ranging clientele of foodniks. Power brokers and professionals share counter space with coffee-cradling street urchins and musicians from the nearby Lion’s Lair. They feast on griddle-cooked eggs and hash browns, straight-up sandwiches and Greek and Mexican dishes. No, it’s not the best grub in town, but when we’re hungry for a late-night bite or a shot of blue collar culture, this is where we satisfy our addiction. We’re not alone, either: the line of post-midnight revelers often stretches out the door and under the glow of Pete’s classic neon sign calling card. |
