Gastropubs are still the rage around town, and Philadelphia Bar & Restaurant (PBR) is a notable member of the pack. Founded by bartenders Shawn Gormley and Nicolas Moore (so you know there’s a good craft beer list and cocktails), the airy 75-seat eatery radiates a friendly, accommodating vibe. In a nice redo of a former butcher shop, PBR features exposed brick walls, original steel beams, and white tile left over from the days when it was Young's Meats. The kitchen, manned by creative chef Ben McNamara, has stepped up its game. The all-day menu includes the likes of seared ahi niçoise, Buffalo shrimp, a fried chicken burrito and a shaved rib-eye steak sandwich. PBR also installed two beer engines making this an even better stop for beer lovers.
