| With Phil’s Mission Hills storefront now closed, barbecue fans are grateful for Phil’s in Point Loma. The roomy 280-seat restaurant is a bigger and better location with the down-home feel of lots of wood and cozy booths. Five cashiers move the crowd faster, yet there is still a long line of barbecue fans waiting for a table nearly every day and night. What’s worth the wait? People like getting messy with those baby-back ribs, barbecued chicken and buttery ears of corn on the cob. For us nothing beats the brougham sandwich---tender shredded pork sauced with Phil's potion, served on a thick bun and topped with creamy coleslaw. Order up some baked beans, beer-battered onion rings and hand-cut fries and you will be in hog heaven. |
