Although there are quite a few Piatti’s around the Bay Area, this Sonoma spot deserves mention. Located right on the historic square, within the El Dorado Hotel, the dining room has been revamped and with an elegant patio creates an upscale, yet reasonably priced, dining atmosphere. Piatti strives to be your local trattoria and its combination of dishes such as pizzas, artisanal cheeses, Oakville Farms produce and selection of produced-nearby wines augers well. Try the delicious, delicate handkerchief pasta with duck and asparagus sugo. Grilled choices include tender lamb shanks and other standards, but often change due to Piatti’s adherence to serving only locally available items. Besides keeping all menu selections fresh, this policy is a bonus for diners looking to experience something new at each sitting.
