The Pines Tavern Restaurant Review: One of the region's longstanding farm-to-table restaurants, built in 1914, The Pines Tavern sits in the country but draws devotees from the city. The kitchen turns out contemporary American cuisine, as well as traditional items celebrating the seasons. Whatever products it doesn’t grow, it acquires from local producers supporting fresh, sustainable, organic agriculture. Menu favorites include the sweet corn ravioli with crabmeat, shrimp and scallops plate, tavern potpie, and salads. Homemade pies, a bananas napoleon, the Dublin Dream sundae with Guinness ice cream and toasted pecan ball lead the dessert list. Next to the more formal dining rooms, there’s a cozy taproom. The restaurant shines in special events, wine dinners, beer dinners and (Christmas) holiday decorations.
