| Your Place has, for many years, enjoyed top billing among Thai restaurants in Santa Barbara. Family-run, it stands out mainly because of its home-style approach to food. Seafood and vegetable dishes are the stars, among which we especially like the shrimp served in a rich and smooth garlic sauce. Bestsellers also include beef and chicken satay skewers, sweet-and-sour chicken---lightly done and thus decidedly different from its better-known Chinese counterpart---and spicy barbecued meats. The room is adorned with Thai art and divided by fish tanks, and there’s often a cluster of people waiting in the small foyer for a table to open up. Consistency has become an issue in recent years, and service can be rude and inattentive, which for some may add to the restaurant's authentic flair, along with the no-frills tableware. |
