Authentic Thai spices and flavors transform staples like tuna steaks and sea bass into works of art. Chilean sea bass in an herbaceous green curry and coconut milk sauce---a Pom's signature dish---has been known to leave diners moaning in pleasure. Beautifully presented plates and such eclectic offerings as seared tuna over crispy spinach with citrus vinaigrette separate this white tablecloth restaurant from most of Jacksonville's Asian eateries. The second-floor restaurant does include a range of classic Thai dishes on the menu as well. But before ordering Rama Thai Delight---shrimp or chicken over spinach and broccoli with peanut sauce-or pad thai, be forewarned. If you ask for your dish spiced medium, you'll be mopping sweat beads from your brow before the meal is over. Anything spicier is for true chili-heads only. Of course, you can always cool off with a dessert course of rich, coconut-laced Bangkok ice cream. Pom's is located over a nightclub, which is good if you want an after-dinner drink and not-so-good if you want a quiet meal on a Saturday night.
