This Northeast neighborhood gem has been packing in the hipsters since day one. Sure, they come for the bright Pop Art décor and the friendly feel. But most of all, we (and the hipsters) come for chef Clark Knutson’s Latin-influenced, global menu. Starters like shrimp and black bean fritters with chipotle and “guasaca” (a Venezuelan avocado condiment) dipping sauces are seriously tasty, as are the spicy matambre, a beef and garbanzo bean stew with an edge of blue cheese, and the Thai chicken satay salad. Finish with a homey slice of chocolate pecan pie with vanilla bean ice cream and coffee con leche sauce. Choose from the beer and wine list or why not order a Tab, Orange Crush or Sprecher from the enormous selection of, you know it, pop.
