| Pop’s offers a contemporary Italian menu and an industrial chic décor near Duke’s East Campus. The kitchen uses fresh local produce whenever possible in such dishes as mushrooms stuffed with North Carolina lump crab meat, farmers market spinach and ricotta or a variety of salads using local lettuces. Pasta is made in-house and used for dishes such as the pappardelle with North Carolina coastal shrimp, smoked bacon and roasted corn. Main courses on any given evening could be duck breast with braised cabbage, Gorgonzola wild rice and huckleberry sauce, or prosciutto-wrapped grilled trout, or perhaps veal saltimbocca with polenta and broccoli rabe. Wood-fired-oven pizzas are among the best in the Triangle. The all-Italian wine list offers several choices by the glass. |
