Praline Connection Restaurant Review: If the words “stewed,” “smothered” and “fried” have some meaning to your taste buds, get thee to Praline Connection. Situated just a few minutes’ walk from the French Quarter and smack in the middle of the Frenchmen Street music scene, this is a local favorite for satisfying Creole fare. Carefully maintained dining rooms have white walls adorned with black curtains and lined with shelves displaying the kitchen's packaged wares and other local edibles. The treasured treats include fried or stewed chicken with greens, home-style gumbo, jambalaya, several varieties of beans with rice, stuffed peppers and sweet potato pie. The praline bread pudding is a belt-busting delight. The connecting confectionery also dispenses pralines and other sweets, all made on the premises. Praline Connection has an outlet in Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, just in case you want to take some pralines home, but to enjoy the authentic experience, go to the main location. If you plan a whole evening at the French Quarter bars, this is the ideal place to fortify yourself first. |
