Prospect Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: Sprawling across the ground floor of a luxurious condominium high rise, Prospect is an opulent setting for equally plush food. The cavernous space is fronted by a boisterous bar featuring its own menu, which includes the Red Hawk burger (made with Cowgirl Creamery's U.S. alternative to Époisses).

Food & Drinks: Main dining room entrées are creative, even adventurous. Goat prepared three ways offers fine adaptations of the beast. The season's first, fresh porcini mushrooms are delivered in a sous vide preparation of gnocchi with crispy prosciutto. Baby beets and fresh goat cheese leverages the best of local vendors, including for the accompanying strawberries. The approach is formal and restrained --- scarcely less so than that of Boulevard, Prospect's older sister --- and dishes tantalize with subtle, full flavors and attractive presentation. Servers are knowledgeable and passionate. The wine list is expansive; wine director Joshua Thomas produces a well thought out list of wines-by-the-glass and performs admirable pairings. The cocktail program shows imagination. Try the Whaler, a balanced blend of rum, Champagne, honey, mint, lime and frothy egg white. Desserts are fine, though straightforward. A dessert wine may be a better option.
