THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED PUB 1842 Restaurant Review:

Beer takes center stage at this gastropub, where more than 60 American and international brews, including locally brewed Big Dog’s Red Hydrant Ale, are served by the can, bottle or on one of 24 taps; three tables feature two self-serve taps. A keg room, elevated dining booths, wooden bar stools, stone mosaic floors, vintage-print wallpaper, plaid upholstery and butcher-block tables create a welcoming environment. Entertainment in the form of people-watching can be had if you obtain a seat overlooking the walkway of The District. Executive chef Anthony Schutz executes the menu and works with Michael Mina on recipe formulation. Snacks and bites we like include nachos comprised of heritage pork chili, cheddar, black bean and jícama relish, and Fresno peppers; and barbecued chicken drumsticks glazed with North Carolina barbecue sauce and served with smoked blue cheese dressing. An extensive burger list includes non-traditional versions such as the "peanut butter crunch burger" with bacon jam, potato chips and pimento cheese. We also suggest the fish ‘n’ chips made from Alaskan cod, crispy without being greasy. Desserts include chocolate sticky toffee cake and warm cookies (chocolate walnut chip and double chocolate chip) and a shake.
