Punk’s Simple Southern Food Restaurant Review: Punk's Simple Southern Food, part of the Clark Cooper Concepts family, strives to bring back the basics, leaving no doubt about its cuisine: hush puppies, chicken fried steak, Gulf Coast seafood and buttermilk fried chicken. Check out the biscuit bar during weekend brunch for some gravy goodness. We like to start with a plate of pickled devil’s eggs topped with smoked paprika before moving on to a crispy oyster BLT slider at lunch or Grandma Pat’s buttermilk fried chicken at dinner --- with a side of Mom’s cornbread, of course. Chef Brandi Key also makes a mean meatloaf served with brown gravy, a Southern staple, and a Salisbury steak like you haven’t had since childhood. Kiddos get their own menu with puzzles they can play while noshing chicken strips and mini corn dogs.
