| The noble torta is the king of Mexican fast food, a sandwich that's not just a sandwich. Imagine a generous bun laden with black beans, shredded chicken mole, avocado, lettuce, tomato and onion. It's a two-hander that can't be beat. There are other tortas around town, but none takes them as far as this operation does. We really like La Española, which combines well-seasoned beef with chorizo and cheese, or the Merced, combining shredded beef with onions and chipotle peppers, zingy but not too spicy.
