| The torta is a huge sandwich with a generous bun laden with black beans, some kind of meat or fish, such as shredded chicken mole, avocado, lettuce, tomato and onion. Other sandwich-type dishes served include the huarache, originating in Mexico City. Shaped like a sandal, hand-formed corn masa is fried then topped with black beans and your choice of guisados, or stews. The pork rib meat in salsa verde makes a good option. Fold it over to eat it like a sandwich for a messy but authentic experience, or grab a fork and go at it more neatly. For beverage, go for a Mexican Coca-Cola, made with sugar instead of corn syrup. Owner Carlos Chávez, a veteran of many Atlanta-area restaurants, takes great pride in the authenticity of his fare. |
