 Borne into Nashville on Gulf Coast currents, chef Jason Brumm offers a menu that has just enough of the usual suspects---ahi, skate wing, rack of lamb---to keep everybody in their culinary comfort zone while he pushes the edges with lobster-chanterelle risotto and Tabasco horseradish mignonette, low-country shrimp and scallops on grits, and duck confit. The seafood here is some of the best in town; expect the freshest available, prepared with an eye toward Floridian tastes. The crisp, open space seems itself a backdrop for the menu to play the lead, though this particular view of downtown is one no other hot-spot in the Gulch can claim. If you sit at the chef’s bar, Brumm will guide your meal and you may linger until long after the last bite of his banana beignets with homemade peanut butter and chocolate ice cream fades from taste. The global wine list, covering everything from Sonoma to Spain, offers some 15 by the glass.
