Ragusa's unpretentious Sicilian-Creole cuisine resonates with local traditions that go back several generations. A collection of sandwiches, pastas and soups served in very casual, very colorful surroundings seem to revolve around the artichoke, tomato, garlic and breadcrumbs. The artichoke theme shows up in the house artichoke soup and artichoke bread. A pasta aficionado will likely be more impressed by the spaghetti with Italian-Creole bordelaise and the classic lasagna. A peppery soup of corn, tomatoes and pasta, studded with fresh shrimp, strikes a balance between Italy and south Louisiana.
