| Generous food from a generous man---Otis Timmons has owned and operated this one-man kitchen since 1979 (his son is Raphael). He’s known for his warmth and fresh breakfasts---big, home-style affairs such as omelets (Spanish, spinach and cheese, salmon and Parmesan); piperade topped with sunny side-up eggs; or french toast or pancakes with meaty sides such as linguiça, smoked chicken apple, bacon or house-made pork sausage. Diners should avoid having to rush during or afterwards. Lunches are equally hearty, including hefty burgers and grilled sandwiches with heaps of home fries or potato salad, though green, poached salmon or chicken breast salads with house-made honey Dijon provide lighter options. The chef himself often delivers sit down service with a side of kindly conversation at this pleasant little café with room for about ten. Try one of the specialty coffee drinks, or stop by for live jazz (limited menu) at Raphael's After Dark weekend nights. |
