The Red Cottage Restaurant Restaurant Review

: A hotspot for breakfast, The Red Cottage has been serving up fluffy eggs and blueberry pancakes since 1951. Over the years, the restaurant has changed quite a bit, but still boasts mid-century charm and made-to-order, stick-to-your-ribs food. Morning meals are hearty and feature quality ingredients. We especially like the caramelized onion omelet, graham cracker crêpes and the Red Cottage home fries (sautéed with peppers, onions, mushrooms and ham and topped with hollandaise). If you're looking to try something innovative, ask for the Thai peanut omelet. It's not on the menu, but this dish of eggs, bananas and spicy peanut sauce is a local favorite. Lunch selections include classics like a Cobb salad, tuna melt, New England baked beans and, of course, a lobster roll. Simple dinners, like char-broiled beef and seafood, is offered in high season. This place is popular with both locals and visitors so be prepared to wait for a table in high season or plan to sit at the counter.
